Data-Driven Storytelling

Take a look at various data-based, multi-modal essays that utilize the ArcGIS and Medium publishing platforms. The essays demonstrate exemplary communication and writing skills as well as the ability to conduct research, interpret data, and create visualizations from that data.

STUDENT-ATHLETES AND MENTAL HEALTH

This presentation provides a data-driven analysis of the association between collegiate athletics and mental health. Though later adapted, this particular research study draws conclusions about the substandard mental health of Coastal Carolina University student-athletes.

TIKTOK AND ITS BACK-END ALGORITHMS

This digital story was created as a project for a social media class. After studying the algorithmic practices of my own TikTok account, I drew generalized conclusions about social media algorithms and stated my findings in a multi-modal, data-driven article.

"BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA" BANNED BOOK CASE STUDY

This study investigates the many reasons behind the banning of Katherine Paterson's novel, "Bridge to Terabithia" and applies them to the bigger book-banning phenomenon.  

BANNED BOOKS ACROSS AMERICA

This collaborative study was created over the course of a semester by my book-banning class. The study details the book-banning trends across America, supported by data analysis and visualizations.
